Let's try Blogger again.
Had a great day to-day. Love these tour walks.
We went on the free walking tour for 3 hours at 11 am & spent the rest of the day in a Scottish pub.
I had mashed potatoes with 2 sausages & gravy & it was great.
The others had lasagna (even a vegetarian one too) & that looked amazing too.
It was a 6 pound special, including a pint of beer or a wine or soda.
We saw Edinburgh Castle, saw JKRowlings inspirational sites for Harry Potter & a bunch of other historical things.
Spend to-day...
5 pounds for tour guide, 6 pounds for lunch at 3pm & 6pounds for some strawberries, some food for a beggar, oats to make porridge, a bottle of cider & some cream for my porridge, seeing as they don't have Jalna Yogurt here!
| My first real food for 6 weeks! Breaky of Scrambled eggs. |
| Posting my blog pics in a free WiFi cafe, waiting for the Hostel to open for registrations, yesterday. |
| My bed is over there...somewhere! It's a 16 bed dorm...mixed! I was talking with a guy last night & when I got up this morning, he walked out with me. You have no idea who is in the sardine tin with you. It's the quietest dorm I've ever been in. Great beds, inner springs, real pillows & nice & clean. |
| There's my bed with the red bag on it. |
| Nice ceiling roses! High ceilings...Nice cornices too. |
| My bed. |
| Walking up to the street where the free walk begins daily at 11 am & 2pm. It's rather spooky actually. |
| Every building has this strange look that it's out of some scary film or something! |
| Some little flowers trying to bloom/ |
| Let your imagination run wild! |
| A really old building...I forget what it is! |
| Our tour group out front of a church in Edinburgh. |
| Apparently this is the heart of the county. It's a spitting stone & everyone spits on it for luck, for revenge etc! |
| Monument of Sir Walter Scott... |
| Kilts were 30 pounds...missed that bit! |
| Edinburgh Castle in the background. |
| 2 Ladies on the walk tour. |
| The 2 windows above Harvey's are where JK Rowlings sat & wrote Harry Potter! Wow...What a bonus. |
This is a great walking tour.
When you come to Edinburgh you must take it. It's 3 hrs & you give the guide what you can afford.
| This was the most gruesome thing I've seen thus far. An open air prison. They took the prisoners clothes off them & made them sleep face down in the snow & if any of them moved or talked, they shot them & the person next to them. Yuk & Yuk. |
| Another shot of the gruesome prison building. |
| The name on the tombstone gave JKRowling's ideas for her book & she actually used this name. |
| Grave stones in the city walls with Edinburgh Castle in the background. |
| Hogwarts... |
| A tombstone dedicated to a little dog called Bobbie, who helped patrol the streets of Edinburgh to keep the city safe. |
| Where JKRowlings wrote Harry Potter... |
| A real London cab in Scotland! |

A memorial to Bobby & even a pub named after him! This memorial is the most photographed thing in Edinburgh.
The pics below wont let me add captions...Blogger is really having formatting probs to-day! The girls are Elisa, Stefanie and Ariane, who went on the walking tour with us & we all had a very nice late lunch in a Scottish Pub.
